The organisation hopes to bring several thousand new jobs to the Midlands through plans that will see an investment of close to £250 million over the next ten years.
Major players in the automotive industry are expected to take advantage of what is being billed as a state-of-the-art technology park, which is set to cover some 750 acres near the town of Nuneaton, near the border with Leicestershire.
Workshops and research facilities will occupy much of the allotted development space, but the organisation behind the plans emphasises its aim to offer high-quality, environmentally friendly office space to customers for years to come.
“We have many buildings, including our main office block, that date back to the 1950s, and despite improvements over the years, they are environmentally inefficient and far from ideal,” explained the MIRA Technology Park’s commercial director, Terry Spall.
Several dozen of the world’s leading auto industry businesses already have staff working at the Warwickshire site and the expansion plans have been made primarily with the aim of keeping up with demand for its services.
Last month, the commercial property firm Colliers International reported that demand for high-quality office space in Birmingham, just 30 minutes from Nuneaton, has been rising steadily for much of 2010.
