Local development company St. Modwen enlisted the London-based construction giant Morgan Sindall to carry out work that will transform much of Longbridge.
The bulk of the new offices will be created at Park Point, which offers close to 20,000 sq ft of Grade A offices overlooking Austin Park in the centre of Longbridge. Meanwhile, a separate and slightly smaller two-storey building called Seven House will offer 17,000 sq ft of offices at the same standard.
The latest phase of the overall project is expected to cost around £70 million. Developers hope that companies of various sizes will take an interest in floorplates offering between 2,000 and 6,500 sq ft of rentable Birmingham office space.
“Park Point and Seven House will enhance the offering at Longbridge town centre, one of the region’s leading commercial, leisure and retail destinations when it opens in summer 2013,” said St. Modwen’s senior development surveyor Mike Murray.
“Businesses based at the buildings will also have access to a wide range of shops, cafes and leisure facilities within the town centre. These include the new Sainsbury’s store which will be opening in summer 2013, as well as the 75 bedroom Premier Inn and Beefeater Grill.”
St. Modwen acquired sites across Longbridge in 2003, and the resulting investment is estimated to have created over 1,500 permanent jobs in and around the town.
