The internet services company AOL has revealed its plan to open a new area of office space in the heart of Orlando, one of the largest cities in the state of Florida.
Around 3,000 sq ft of Florida office space has been set aside for members of AOL’s publishing engineering team as the New York-based business looks to extend its presence throughout the US.
Staff at the open-plan offices in downtown Orlando are to be responsible for delivering the company’s various online services to customers around the world and an opening-day event is to take place later this week.
Commenting on the move, AOL’s vice president of global publishing Gavin Hall said: “As our team continues to grow, it is important for us to have a space that enables us to meet together as a team to collaborate with each other.
“In addition, we hope the new office will help us attract top technology and business leaders from the central Florida universities.”
A number of environmental considerations were taken into account during the design phase of AOL’s newest office space, with waste levels to be kept as low as possible and recycled materials to be used throughout the site.
Formerly known as America Online and once boasting 30 million users worldwide, AOL has employees working out of office space in San Francisco, Los Angeles, London, Bangalore, Chicago, Denver and its headquarters at 770 Broadway in New York City.
Meanwhile, the internet services giant Google has been carrying out deals to increase its office space stocks on both coasts of America, in Manhattan, New York and around Venice Beach in Los Angeles.
