Voice Commerce, whose technology is increasingly being used to secure the electronic transfer of money, has agreed to occupy around 13,500 sqft of office space at a site in Fulbourn on the outskirts of the famous university town.
The company plans to have its staff operating out of its new Cambridge offices by March 2012 and to recruit an additional 70 people to join its existing workforce. The new jobs are being made available primarily within its customer support, sales and finance units.
Working most notably with the payment giants Visa and MasterCard, Voice Commerce has established a growing customer base for its processing services. At the same time, its commitment to larger offices is being viewed as a significant step forward.
Nick Ogden, Voice Commerce’s chairman and chief executive, explained that the rental agreement with landlords at its new offices includes the option of signing up for more space at the same Capital Park site if the need arises. He also said its offices in Cambridge could eventually constitute the entire of its European headquarters.
“The new office space in Fulbourn means we can continue to grow the business and service our expanding customer base,” he said.
Meanwhile, Lucy Farrant from Bidwells, the property agent on the leasing deal, said: “[Capital Park] provides high quality, flexible accommodation that will work well to meet Voice Commerce’s current and future occupational requirements. We wish them all the very best in their new business premises.”
Voice Commerce’s innovative voice-recognising mobile phone payment software saw its CEO and chairman, Nick Ogden, named the UK’s Entrepreneur of the Year in 2010.
