A planned merger of two separate office locations used by the Muir Group Housing Association in Cheshire has been given the go-ahead by the relevant local authorities.
The association works to deliver affordable housing to those who need it in the local area and its plan is to create a new regional headquarters at a site on Lightfoot Street in the Chester suburb of Hoole.
Staff currently operating from offices elsewhere in Chester and in the town of Helsby will soon be brought under one roof at offices formerly used by the NHS Purchasing and Supply Agency.
Plans to refurbish the office building were submitted to the Chester West and Chester Council and subsequently approved. As a result, the relevant fit-out effort can now commence and is expected to be completed before the end of 2012.
“This is exciting news for Muir Group to start the new year with and it will be great to see our new office taking shape over the coming months,” said the association’s chief executive John Bellis.
“With more staff working together under one roof we will be able to offer even more efficient services to residents,” he added.
The group, which manages in excess of 5,000 properties around the country, said it intends to employ roughly 100 members of staff from its new Cheshire headquarters in Hoole.
Mr Bellis pointed out that its existing office sites in the Lancashire towns of Winsford, Burnley and Blackpool are to be retained, as are its offices in the Cambridgeshire town of Huntingdon.
Cheshire forms an important part of a wider north-west of England regional office market that is dominated in large part by the two nearby cities of Manchester and Liverpool.
