MediaCity UK in Manchester has acquired another tenant in the national food retailer Booths.
Booths is to take up office space in the three-storey Greenhouse office complex in Salford Quays.
The retailer is opening up a new café in Manchester in October and is basing its store design team in the new office space to help with the launch.
Sarah Burns, Senior Marketing Manager at Booths, said: “We are entering an extremely exciting phase for Booths as we open our first city food and drink store at MediaCityUK.
“To support this we decided to base our store design team at The Greenhouse to enable us to design and develop a food and drink store that is fitting with the environment and provides the ultimate customer experience.”
The Greenhouse is next door to the offices occupied by the BBC and ITV.
“We are pleased with the success of Booths café and are excitedly anticipating the arrival of the brand new food store this autumn”, said Stephen Wild, Managing Director at MediaCityUK.
MediaCity UK consists of 200 acres based in Salford Quays on the Manchester Ship Canal. The development was initiated by Peel Media and most of the tenants are media companies.
The project will have two phases, the first of which was completed this year. Phase two is dependent on how successful the first phase is.
Currently the largest tenant of MediaCity UK is the BBC, based at the 12,500 square metre BBC Quay House. The move by the BBC marks the first time it has decentralised its operations from London.
Should the move be successful, the BBC has stated that BBC One or BBC Two could also move to MediaCity UK by 2015.
