A total of around 100,000 sq ft of LA office space is to be newly occupied by the company’s employees in three separate buildings across the city, with thousands of staff now likely to be relocated over the course of this year.
Thousands more are also set to be hired by the firm in 2011, as it continues the remarkable progress it has made in recent years and heads towards becoming one of the largest businesses in the world.
Having established a presence in southern Californian office space back in 2003 with the opening of a site in Santa Monica, Google is targeting major expansion in the region with its three newest leasehold agreements.

City officials in Los Angeles have welcomed the commitment from the company and are hoping it will provide a notable boost to the local economy.
LA councilman Bill Rosenthal commented: “I am ecstatic that Google will be opening offices in Venice. This should be a huge boon to the restaurants and shops on Main Street, Rose Avenue and Abbot Kinney Boulevard.”
Thomas Williams, a senior director of engineering at Google, is quoted in the LA Times as saying: “Los Angeles is a world-class city with a talented workforce and we’re thrilled to expand our presence as we enter our biggest hiring year in the company’s history.”
Google recently acquired an enormous area of office space in Manhattan, New York, in a deal worth close to $2 billion.
The company has been steadily diversifying from its search engine origins and last year acquired the business behind the Android operating system, which is increasingly being used in smartphones and the latest tablet computers.

Known as the Binoculars Building, it stands just a few blocks from Venice Beach and was designed by acclaimed architect Frank Gehry in 1991.
Google is the largest tenant at the property and the deal, in 2011, involved adding two new properties to the building.
