The Greenbuild Expo will take place in the northwest of England in May and is expected to attract a wide range of exhibitors from all over the UK and Europe.
Among the critical subject areas to be discussed and highlighted at the event is environmentally friendly refurbishment, an issue increasingly being addressed by office space landlords and occupiers worldwide.
“Championing sustainable refurbishment and building solutions is what Greenbuild is about whether that’s in the volume domestic market or wider construction sectors including hotel and leisure, retail and offices,” a statement said on the organiser’s website.
High up on the agenda at the 2012 event will be the looming introduction of what the British government calls its ‘Green Deal’, whereby property owners are reassured of recouping any money they spend on eco-friendly refurbishments.
Provisions for the Green Deal were included in the 2011 Energy Act, and policymakers pointed out that close to half of all the UK’s carbon emissions can be attributed to household and workplace energy use.
This year’s Greenbuild event will take place on May 9th and 10th at Manchester Central, which was formerly known as the GMex.
Close to 4,000 visitors attended the expo in 2011, and organisers are hoping for an even stronger turnout this year. The focus will be largely on how companies and individuals can save or make money through improved sustainability performance.
The UK’s Green Building Council, the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), and the Manchester City Council have supported the upcoming event.
