The company already flies to London, Paris, Rome, Hamburg and Budapest among other major cities and is calling its planned route from Delhi to Milan a “new gateway to Europe”.
As of December 5th this year, assuming all goes according to plan, Jet Airways flights will operate daily from the Indian capital to what is renowned as one of the largest, most fashionable, and most dynamic cities in Italy.
“Jet Airways is delighted to expand its European footprint with the launch of its maiden services to Milan in December 2010,” said Sudheer Raghavan, Jet Airways’ chief commercial officer.
“Guests will enjoy enhanced connections to several European cities over Milan, further complementing our existing European code-share connectivity over Brussels and enabling us to offer guests seamless travel between Europe and India.”
The news will be positively received by the thousands of corporate travellers who do business in both Europe and the sub-continent.
Jet Airways was founded in 1993 and now runs thousands of flights each week to international destinations as far afield as Toronto, Johannesburg, Hong Kong, New York and Brussels.
Editor’s notes: In January 2023, Forbes India reported that, after several years of difficulties, the airline, once India’s largest private airline, would relaunch later in the year.
Ownership of Jet Airways was transferred to the Jalan-Kalrock Consortium (JKC), which stated it was “fully committed to the revival of Jet Airways”. The planned relaunch was set for Q2 of 2023.
Research in June 2026 found that, following years of troubled revival attempts and bankruptcy proceedings, the Supreme Court of India officially ordered the carrier’s liquidation in November 2024.
