One of the world’s largest producers of kidney care in the US is to expand its office space in Denver, Colorado, it has been reported.
Davita has stated that it will lease an additional 20,000 square feet of office space at 16 Market Square. Approximately 100 employees will be housed in the new office space. The new space will augment the company’s existing headquarters 1551 Wewatta Street.
Unforeseen growth in Denver is behind the move, according to the company. Currently Davita is constructing a brand new office space in the Lower Downtown area of the city which will be ready in late 2012.
Set to cost USD 90 million, the new headquarters will have 270,000 square feet of office space and will be at 1550 Wewatta Street. Over 900 employees will work at the new headquarters building.
In 2010 the company moved from its original headquarters in California to Denver. Since moving to Denver Davita has created over 300 new jobs, the company claims. Additionally thousands of employees from all over the country have come to Denver for training.
“We are growing faster than we expected for two powerful reasons,” Kent Thiry, DaVita chairman and CEO stated. “First, more DaVita teammates are choosing to move to Denver because they have heard how much people like it here, and second because our business is growing faster than we anticipated which leads to more local hiring.”
In February of this year, when ground was initially broken on Davita’s new headquarters the company stated that it had chosen Denver for its new base due to the city’s healthy cost of living and environmentally sensitive residents.
Currently Davita has some 35,000 employees in the US.
