Plans to redevelop a three-storey building in the Salford Quays area of Manchester as part of the on-going MediaCityUK initiative have been given the go-ahead by local planners.
The site is referred to as the Greenhouse and it now looks like it will add to the stock of office space being established and made available in what is a rapidly-changing area of the city.
Peel Media is the principal developer on the entire MediaCityUK scheme and it is planning to offer a variety of small business office suites at the Greenhouse, with desk space to be available from as little as £50 per week.
As Peel has been keen to point out, the new office space will be only a short walk from the centre of the media hub being developed in Salford Quays, including the Pie Factory where a number of high-profile occupants are already establishing themselves.
“The Greenhouse will provide self-contained office suites spread over three floors. It is located less than a minute’s walk from the new tram terminus at the heart of MediaCityUK,” noted Stephen Wild, managing director of real estate for Peel Media.
“It is an ideal solution for small companies looking for a cost-effective and flexible way to be part of the MediaCityUK environment,” he added.
ITV is perhaps the best known company to have committed to moving large parts of its organisation to the Greater Manchester site but various public operators, including BBC North, the Trafford Council and Salford University are also setting-up their staff in MediaCity office space.
The Peel Group is one of the largest property development organisations currently operating in the north of England, with billions of pounds worth of investment planned for the region over the next two decades.
