Several floors of office space occupied by the defence and aerospace company BAE Systems in the city of Preston in Lancashire are to be extensively refurbished over the coming months, it has been revealed.
The construction services company ISG has been enlisted to carry out the process that will see a range of new executive areas, partitions and ceilings installed on the first and second floors of BAE’s offices in the Preston suburb of Warton.
BAE is a major employer in Preston but also in various other parts of Lancashire, including in the town of Samlesbury where ISG recently carried out a series of office upgrade procedures.
Part of the challenge for ISG as it moves ahead with plans to refurbish the ear-marked offices in Preston is carrying out the work on specific parts of a building while other areas are still being occupied and used as functioning office space.
Work on the fit-out will begin in February with a three-week “enabling phase” to ensure ground floor offices remain suitably accessible, with completion expected in August.
“BAE Systems is a key client for ISG and our ability to work flexibly and sensitively across restricted sites, which are home to both business critical and commercially sensitive operations, is an important element of our ongoing relationship,” said Jim Parker, ISG’s managing director for the nort-west of England.
“Securing continued repeat business with BAE Systems is a major vote of confidence in our overall project methodology and ability to deliver a high quality product on time and within budget.”
BAE Systems is head-quartered in London and is one of the largest military contractors in the world. It has development offices in several European countries and across the Middle East.
