Simpson and Marwick Solicitors has been temporarily operating from Collingwood House since mid-2011 but has now signed terms on a ten-year leasehold deal at the site.
Collingwood House sits in the heart of the most commercially vibrant area of Newcastle, which is also the largest office space sub-market in the north-east of England. Simpson and Marwick’s agreement will see it occupying around 2,900 sq ft of office space on the fourth floor of the building.
Lex Dowie, a partner at the solicitors firm, said in a statement following the announcement that the move is designed to help his firm strengthen its presence in England and form a solid foundation for future expansion. He added that offices in Newcastle represented the perfect base for a firm operating regularly in both Scotland and England.
The real estate advisory firm DTZ assisted the solicitors in reaching the deal at Collingwood House. Michael O’Driscoll, a senior surveyor at its offices in Newcastle, explained: “Simpson and Marwick required premises which could accommodate their long-term occupational needs and future growth aspirations. Collingwood House was the ideal solution for them, offering a prime location close to Central Station whilst providing a modern, open-plan floorplate.”
Both Simpson and Marwick and DTZ have offices in London and operate across the UK. DTZ, for its part, has a presence in more than 200 cities worldwide and in 45 countries.
