One of the top law firms in the US has agreed to move its staff from their existing offices in Austin, Texas, to a more sought-after space in the city’s central business district.
Fulbright & Jaworski has been operating out of the One American Centre for the last 25 years but the firm’s bosses and staff are now gearing-up for a move to the San Jacinto tower on the other side of Austin.
Around 73,000 sq ft of Austin office space is now set to be occupied by nearly 200 Fulbright & Jaworski employees, all of whom are expected to be settled in at the new site before the end of summer 2011.
The company had been weighing-up its options in terms of high-quality office space in Austin for the past three years before deciding on San Jacinto, with sustainability and efficiency among the major issues for consideration.
Both the company’s current offices and its intended location are owned by Thomas Properties, which views the switch to Austin’s CBD as a comment on the strength of the city’s primary business area.
“It was a top priority to find a way to keep such a valued customer in the CBD and in one of our properties,” explained Andrew Smith, who helped broker the deal on behalf of Thomas Properties.
“Their decision to move from one of Thomas Properties’ buildings to another is strong evidence to our relationship, our market-leading efforts in sustainability and our focus as a firm on customer service.”
Last month, one of America’s leading solar power companies SunPower committed to a considerable expansion of its Texas office presence with an agreement that should see around 450 jobs created in and around Austin.
