Manchester office space switch plans revealed

[Published in July 2010 and last updated May 2026] The online accommodation finder LateRooms.com has revealed its plans to switch from one area of Manchester office space to another over the course of the next few months.

With the aim of allocating enough room for future expansion, the company is set to occupy three floors of a newly-built office space development in the Cheetham Hill area of the city.

Having been based in the Deva Centre in the neighbouring city of Salford for the past six years, the company is now set to occupy a total of 36,000 sq ft of Manchester office space in combination with two of its sister companies.

LateRooms is currently operated by TUI Travel, which owns over 200 different brands within the travel industry and employs close to 50,000 people worldwide, many of them based in office spaces in the UK and other parts of Europe.

Reflecting on the news of the office space switch, Chris Morris, managing director of TUI’s business-to-consumer division, said: “LateRooms has been one of Manchester’s success stories over the past ten years and we’re committed to keeping the business in the city where it all began.”

Earlier this month, the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) urged office space developers across the UK to find ways of making sure that their buildings are as environmentally friendly as they can be.

The RICS rated the UK as being third in the world in terms of the progress being made towards a “zero carbon built environment” but noted that there is much more that still needs to be done.

Editor’s notes: In May 2015, it was announced by TUI that it was restructuring all of its brands and that LateRooms would be sold off.

Six months later, in October, it was announced that the Indian travel company, with headquarters offices in Mumbai and established in 1758, Cox & Kings, had acquired LateRooms for £8.5 million.

However, in March 2016, it was announced that the experienced company had sold LateRooms to Enterprises UK for £20 million.

In 2019, LateRooms announced it had ceased trading via Twitter and a message on its website.

The brand was later purchased by the Snaptrip Group, and the LateRooms website was online in 2023 and listed over 7,000 UK hotels.

Research conducted in May 2026 found that Snaptrip Group had acquired Staycato and My Design Events.

Both acquisitions were completed in December 2025 for individual “seven-figure” sums.

Staycato included the Simply Sea Views and Dog Friendly Retreats brands, and France-based My Design Events, operated under the commercial name My Boutique Hotel.

In May 2026, Snaptrip Group listed its registered office within Cargo Works, 1-2 Hatfields, London, SE1 9PG, which is a building operated by leading London office provider Workspace Group.
