Now part of Walmart, the world’s largest retailing group, Asda has several thousand staff based in Leeds, with around 350 already working out of its newest offices in the city.
The company has taken two floors of offices at a development called The Mint in the Holbeck area of Leeds, where a range of administrative and IT teams are now based.
Asda’s chief executive Andy Clarke officially opened its newest Leeds offices recently and said: “Asda is Leeds born and bred and I’m delighted that we have been able to extend our commitment to our home city, as well as offer a fantastic new space for our colleagues.”
The bulk of Asda’s Leeds-based staff operates out of Asda House on Great Wilson Street.
The Mint stands eight storeys tall and is rated excellent on the BREEAM measure of environmental sustainability.
Colin Hayes from Deltalord, the company behind the Mint development, said: “The considered fit-out by Asda’s design team has fully realised the architect’s vision of a light-filled, high-tech modern office space.”
“The building and its surrounding environment is now animated and enlivened by Asda’s investment in the area,” he added.
Asda’s total commitment at The Mint is for 38,000 sq ft offices, close to a third of the total amount of space available at the site.
Editor’s notes: In 2016, Asda vacated The Mint and, as of July 2023, the company listed Asda House, South Bank, Great Wilson Street as its Leeds office address on its website.
