The Peel Group aims to expand its MediaCityUK project. Several new office buildings have recently been added to the local supply, and some of the most high-profile media operations in the UK have moved to the northwest of England.
Additional plans submitted and outlined on the company’s website include providing almost three million square feet of office space and a mix of residential, leisure, and retail properties.
Salford City Council has received an official planning application for a wide-ranging initiative to reshape Salford Quays across ten hectares of land over the next two decades.
“We see the new development playing a pivotal role in supporting what Peel has already built in the initial phases (of the MediCityUK scheme),” said Stephen Wild, managing director of the project.
“This is a 20-year plan and demonstrates our continuing long-term commitment to the area. We will now consult as widely as possible in producing our detailed plans,” he added.
If given the go-ahead, the overall endeavour will be delivered in four phases. Sustainability issues are said to be a key concern with each of the planned developments.
The Peel Group has been behind projects that have delivered dozens of new office buildings across the north-west of England in recent years. It has similarly expansive plans for regeneration schemes across the Wirral and Liverpool.
