Energy management experts open London office space

[Published December 2010 and updated May 2023] An energy management business from California is looking to expand its operations in the UK and across Europe with the aid of a new area of office space in central London.

Sentilla is based in Redwood City and is targeting growth in various European markets, starting with the UK and the city it believes to have one of the world’s foremost corporate sustainability programs.

Indeed, the company has made clear its conviction that by having offices in London and in the San Francisco Bay area, it is now well-established in the world’s two leading corporate sustainability markets.

Providing software that helps manage and reduce energy wastage at data centres is a particular area of focus for Sentilla, which has described its move to serviced office space in London as having been the “next logical target” in its ongoing expansion effort.

Think London, the official direct investment agency for the UK capital, has been assisting the US firm’s search for the right serviced office space in London and is happy to have another market-leading operator in the city.

“Think London saw Sentilla’s success in the United States and was eager to help the company bring its services to our city,” explained Michael Charlton, chief executive of Think London.

“London is Europe’s headquarters for corporate sustainability programs,” he added.

Explaining the reasons for the move from his employer’s point of view, Sentilla’s vice-president for European, African and Middle-Eastern sales Mike Fisher said: “Europe is a huge data center market that has yet to optimize their energy performance as a means of achieving lowered operating costs, deferred capital expenditures and improved corporate sustainability.”

Already this year, London has been rated by Cushman & Wakefield as the best city in the world in which to do business and its West End district has been noted as having the most expensive and some of the most sought-after office space anywhere on earth.

Editor’s notes: After 2011, Think London became part of London and Partners which works as the  business growth and destination agency for London.

In 2014, it was announced that Sentilla had been acquired by Ericsson to boost its bid to manage enterprise IT solutions.
