British food packaging firm opens Dubai office

The Sirane Group, a business specialising in the development of food packaging, among other things, has opened an office in Dubai, its first in the Middle East.

Offices now in use by the company’s staff are within the Jebel Ali Free Zone, a designated area in the far west of Dubai in which relatively light taxation is designed to encourage companies to settle and do business.

Established in the town of Telford in Shropshire, the Sirane Group as whole now operates as four distinct units covering food packaging, medical and healthcare, industrial and horticultural products respectively.

Having set up a warehousing and factory operation in the Turkish city of Antalya last year, company bosses are confident of seeing the scale of their operations across the Middle East increase quickly in the coming months. Its offices in Dubai will function as a co-ordination hub for that expansion effort, and as a sales and logistics base for its food packaging operation.

“The Middle East is a key growth area for Sirane, and having offices in Dubai will significantly help us grow,” said the group’s managing director Simon Balderson.

“We’re delighted to now have the office in Jebel Ali up and running and are looking forward to meeting new clients from the ever-growing Middle Eastern food sector.

The company recently launched a Southern African division and has said it will be attending the upcoming Gulf Food Show in Dubai for the second time in February. The British operation is considered an expert in the development of cooking bags that are used to pack a growing range of foodstuffs worldwide.
