Read our guide to find out what type of flexible workspace is offered by The Skiff

The Skiff is a coworking space in Brighton created to give people a break from the isolation of working alone.
Post-pandemic, there have been increasing concerns about the loneliness felt by remote home workers. The Skiff, however, has been aware of this for a long time and created the coworking property in 2008.
The workspace offers large desks that accommodate large screens, proper workstation chairs, and plenty of space to spread out.
Members enjoy free tea and coffee, as well as access to kitchen facilities.
There are breakout areas and social spaces throughout the property, and many collaborative partnerships have been forged within them.
There are also a few gatherings every week, including BYO lunches, drinks and pastries.
Although the building is social, there are plenty of quiet areas for private calls or Zoom meetings.
Members also enjoy the free use of a meeting room that will accommodate up to 10 people and is equipped with a large screen and Apple TV for presentations.
This is ideal for workshops and training sessions, although it is also sometimes used as a podcasting booth as it is soundproof.

About The Skiff
The Skiff was established in 2008 with the intention of combating the sense of isolation for solo workers – a space where people could work individually and together.
Having this intention at the core of its mission has created a long-standing community of 130 long-term members who have moved with them into bigger and better-serving properties – in 2022, The Skiff was firmly based within its fourth building – on Cheapside, less than a minute from Brighton train station.
The Skiff is described as a coworking community for individuals including freelancers, consultants, remote workers, roaming workers and small business owners.

Facts about The Skiff
Why choose The Skiff coworking space in Brighton?
Established in 2008, The Skiff is Brighton’s oldest dedicated coworking space and, now operating from its fourth location, has gone from strength to strength.
With a determination to always put people over space, members over clients, trust over policy and purpose over profit, The Skiff is far from a corporate coworking space.
And the fact that it has over 130 long-term ‘Skiffmates’ on its roster is a testament to the sense of community that it has created.
It helps to strengthen the sense of community by keeping a space dedicated to socialising in the property and running events such as the weekly ‘Show and Tell’ where members showcase their projects and successes.
Uniquely, as part of moving The Skiff towards a member-owned operation, the Brighton coworking providers have launched a sponsored membership programme where other members can contribute to providing free coworking space in Brighton to those who cannot afford it.
