About Meantime Studios

Meantime Studios provides a range of spaces for a community of creative and commercial businesses. The versatile spaces are housed within a site of natural beauty and heritage and are designed and managed to inspire creativity and collaboration.

Named due to its unique position in the Royal Borough of Greenwich in southeast London close to the Shepherd Gate Clock.

Greenwich Mean Time or GMT is the time displayed by the Shepherd Gate Clock at the Royal Observatory in Greenwich Park – when the sun is at its highest point exactly above the Prime Meridian, it is 12:00 noon at Greenwich – and this is the reference point for every time zone across the world.

The studios are located adjacent to Greenwich Park – home of both the Prime Meridian and the Royal Observatory.

Greenwich is also rich in maritime history – the town was once home to the palace where Henry VIII and Elizabeth I were born – the palace fell into disrepair during the English Civil War and was replaced by the Royal Naval Hospital for Sailors.

Its buildings became the Royal Naval College in 1873, and they remained a military education establishment until 1998. Some of the former buildings are now used by the University of Greenwich and some of the others became the National Maritime Museum.

Meantime Studios are just a few steps away from the museum.
