Who are Oru Space?

Founded in 2019, Oru Space has created working environments where coworking meets social impact to create a more prosperous, inclusive community that celebrates profit with purpose.

‘Oru’ means ‘At One’ in Tamil and this is embodied in the team’s mission to create and nurture a cooperative community.

This has meant bringing together a diverse mix of people to enrich each other’s lives through innovation, social action, and empowering events.

As a workspace provider, this has meant combining coworking office space with wellbeing, food, events, an obsession with the environment, a passion for community and a laser focus on customer satisfaction.

Oru Space’s MO led it to become a certified B Corp office provider in December 2023.

Why choose Oru Space flexible workspace in London?

Oru Space’s environments have been beautifully designed and created to attract individuals and businesses who ‘care’ and believe in combining ‘profit’ with ‘purpose’.

In doing so, it has created an exciting community of like-minded folk.

As well as offering discounted rates to charities and social enterprises, it takes its values very seriously meaning that it is environmentally obsessed, community-driven and focused on creating ‘activated spaces’ that are packed with energy and curiosity, and with health and wellness activities run for the community.

This means that Oru runs a full schedule of wellness activities with classes and workshops for breathwork, gong bath sound healing, meditation, pilates, yoga and yoga nidra, to name a few.

Uniquely, the coworking office space provider also runs a weekly Tension Trauma Release Exercise (TRE) class known as ‘Sunday Shake’.

From the outside looking in, it looks like a bit of a fun and joyful free dance session, but its roots are well-researched.

With the knowledge that the body can hold on to trauma through deep muscle tension, the military has used this technique on large groups of survivors of natural disasters and other traumatic events to heal PTSD, where it would have been impossible to provide individual therapy.

It turns out that it can help manage stress on many levels.

Oru Space also runs retreats abroad, and its members enjoy access to treatments from an eclectic range of practitioners including acupuncturists, chiropractors, psychologists, psychotherapists, physiotherapists and life coaches, to mention just a few examples.

Oru Space nurtures its community and nourishes its members with food from Trinco which offers food both day and night with a menu that includes sandwiches such as its famous Sri Lankan ‘muttonless’ roll, soups such as its enriching minestrone, curries including its potato bonda, freshly baked cakes and breakfast dishes such as porridge topped with spiced pear and an apple compote.

Oru Space became recognised as a B Corp coworking office space provider in 2023.

Certified B Corporations, or B Corps, are companies that have been verified to meet high standards of social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability.

This accreditation has become increasingly important to businesses seeking space that meets their own environmental, social and governance (ESG) standards.

Oru Space joins other B Corp organisations including Guardian Media Group, Jamie Oliver Group, Patagonia and The Body Shop.
