Regus provides office space in over 30 satellite locations in the UK in addition to the spaces it operates within 45 cities across the UK. Regus was founded in 1989 and was the World’s first hybrid workplace platform providing flexible alternatives to leased office space in cities, towns and satellite locations across the UK and internationally.
Recognising the growth in the popularity of remote working and hybrid working, which had its roots in the 1960s, Regus set about providing instantly accessible workspaces in locations outside of the centres of large cities where businesses had been traditionally based, as well as in the traditional office space locations. This facilitated office-based businesses to follow the ‘Hub and Spoke’ model of hybrid working and provide large offices in central locations as well as smaller offices in satellite locations thus offering flexibility and mobility for their workforces.
This mode of working continued to grow in popularity, particularly amongst certain sectors, however, the events of 2020 meant that the adoption of hybrid working became universal. And post-pandemic, hundreds of thousands of businesses continued to adopt hybrid working using a network of hybrid workplaces.
With its pioneering spirit, Regus’s first website was launched in June 1998 advertising its groundbreaking ‘Instant Offices Worldwide’ product.
The Regus website was launched 3 months before Google launched its own, incidentally.
Before the launch of its website, Regus had relied on providing office space in highly strategic locations such as near airports or in business parks with city-rivalling amenities such as abundant car parking facilities and ease of access.
The busy locations with high footfall, high traffic and excellent communications grew in popularity and Regus offices in satellite locations became increasingly utilised as hybrid workplaces.
Post-pandemic, Regus increased its range of products within these locations to include day offices, custom offices, part-time office memberships whereby a business could use an office for a set number of days per month, and coworking membership options. These hybrid workspace options added to the private serviced offices for rent already offered as well as the meeting rooms and collaboration spaces that could be hired.
