Clinton’s office in his function as an ex-president will continue to reside in the Harlem building, according to the General Services Administration which oversees office space for ex-presidents.
In August a new lease for the 8,715 square feet of office space will be signed.
Clinton moved into his Harlem office in the summer of 2001. In a speech at the time he said: “Harlem always struck me as a place that was human and alive, where there was a rhythm to life and a song in the heart, where no matter how bad it was, people held up their heads and went on.”
Barbara Askins, president and CEO of the 125th Street Business Improvement District, told DNAinfo: “As long as he is still working and supporting things in Harlem it’s good. There are a lot of organizations here that he worked with that I hope [to] stay on the list.”
The foundation is involved in fighting childhood obesity, treating AIDS/HIV and Malaria, creating sustainable development in Africa and combating climate change.
Through the foundation’s work world leaders have made 1,950 Commitments to Action and 9,000 schools in America are providing healthy food choices to their students. Over 4,000 African farmers have improved their crops, the foundation claims, and 14 cities around the globe are implementing energy efficiency projects.
