Based in Hayes, the new headquarters building features a workspace that Morgan Lovell has called ‘truly inspirational’.
In making the new headquarters, the two previous Rackspace offices in Stockley Park were combined into a single building. Going into the project Morgan Lovell had the self-proclaimed goal of providing “one of the most stimulating workplaces designed in recent times”.
The new headquarters, which will host 620 employees or ‘Rackers’, consists of 100,000 square feet of office space spread out over four floors. The theme of the design is ‘home’, according to Morgan Lovell. The ground floor is laid out to look like a garage, complete with an old Mini, while the first floor boasts a lounge area. The second floor is the ‘library’ with mahogany furniture and Chesterfield sofas and armchairs. The third floor features a courtyard garden with picnic benches and a glass-roofed atrium.
Jamie Kinch, Rackspace’s Building Services Manager, said: “As a company, we offer some really great staff benefits and we wanted to capture these and embody these within the build of the new office.
“It’s important to Rackspace that every employee is a hundred per cent behind the ethos of the company. We believe that if we give more to our staff, then they will give more back to us and to our customers.”
Morgan Lovell also got creative when it came to the boardroom. This features a cardboard cutout of Prime Minister David Cameron welcoming you and a replica of 10 Downing Street’s famous black front door.
The Financial Times has listed Rackspace in its ‘UK’s 50 Best Workplaces’ for the last six years in a row. It has also been ranked recently in The Sunday Times’ ‘100 Best Companies to Work For’ list.
Editor’s notes: As of June 2023, Rackspace continues to list 8 Millington Road, Hyde Park Hayes, Middlesex, UB3 4AZ as its UK office address on its corporate website.
In 2021, the US-headquartered company turned over $3.01 billion.
