Bowtech is investing £3 million to support the creation of its new offices. When the building is completed at the end of 2013, Bowtech intends to grow its workforce from around 40 to near 70. The Davidson Smith Partnership designed the new Aberdeen offices, which will form part of the wider £100 million mixed-use ABZ Business Park initiative in the far north of Scotland.
“Securing renowned technology specialist Bowtech Products as our first occupier at such an early stage is excellent news,” said George Stevenson, director of ABZ Development Ltd. “We are confident of making further announcements soon, with rapid progress being made at ABZ.”
Bowtech calls itself one of the world’s leading providers of camera, LED lighting, and vision systems designed for use in extreme conditions and subsea environments. Its clients include energy businesses as far afield as South America and Australasia. Still, much of its work is focused on meeting demand for equipment from companies operating offshore in the North Sea.
“We are investing in our future by establishing our new headquarters at ABZ, where we are able to develop bespoke premises at a site which can accommodate our ambitious growth plans,” said Steve Bowring, Bowtech Products’ managing director.
The land designated for the business park covers around 750,000 sq ft, and the overall aim is to deliver large amounts of industrial space, a hotel, and plenty of new offices. Current estimates are that up to 2,000 construction jobs will be created while delivering what ABZ Developments Ltd suggests are all the business premises that Aberdeen badly needs.
Editor’s notes: As of August 2024, the subsea vision systems company operates under the brand Teledyne Bowtech, which lists ABZ Business Park as its office address on its LinkedIn page.
The 70-acre ABZ Business Park had approximately 34,000 square feet of new-build office and workshop space available for rent across two business units.
