A new business park will be built near the Scottish city of Aberdeen, and thousands of square feet of office space will be included in the development plans.

The project achieved planning consents in November 2012, and Miller Developments has since exercised its option to acquire the earmarked 93 acres of land and revealed its intention to start work on a 1.4 million sq ft mixed-use scheme.

When announcing its plans for the site, which is close to Aberdeen International Airport, Miller described the scheme as among the largest new office and industrial building projects Scotland has seen in years.

The company expects the completed business park to be worth around £400 million and to create close to 8,000 jobs over the next ten years. Considerable infrastructure investment will ensure the business park is fully serviced and ready to be occupied immediately upon completion.

“With superb accessibility, planning consents in place and our investment in the necessary infrastructure, we are confident this will be an exciting proposition for businesses looking for a new or expanded base in Aberdeen,” said David Milloy, joint managing director at Miller Developments.

“We have already had interest in the development from companies both within Aberdeen and abroad and are confident of announcing our first deals with occupiers in the near future,” he said.

Aberdeen is now well established as a key destination within the burgeoning Scottish energy industry. A similar mixed-use project near Aberdeen Airport called the ABZ Business Park is already well into the construction phase and with several office space occupancy deals signed.

Editor’s notes: The business park in Dyce was named D2 Business Park and completed in September 2020 representing a gross development value of £100,000,000.

D2’s highly convenient location, adjacent to Aberdeen International Airport and providing direct access to Airport Road, which leads directly to the Aberdeen Western Periphery Route (AWPR) at the Craibstone Junction and to the A96, has attracted high-profile occupiers such as ASCO, BP, Emerson, Oceaneering, and Hampton by Hilton.

15 acres of undeveloped land remain at the site which will be developed on a build-to-suit basis. Plots are available in sizes of approximately 4 acres with developed buildings available to be bought or leased.
