Occupancy terms relating to the planned offices were finalised between Muse Developments and KPMG in July of this year, but the plans have yet to be formally approved by the Leeds City Council. The London-based architect Scott Brownrigg designed the plans for the building.
KPMG is expected to relocate its Leeds-based staff to the newly completed development on Sovereign Street in the autumn of 2015.
“The Sovereign Street development provides a really exciting opportunity to create a high profile business and leisure environment in the heart of Leeds city centre, which will bring investment as well as employment opportunities,” said Richard Lewis, Leeds’ city council’s executive member for city development and the economy.
“We are very excited about the opportunity for Muse to undertake its first major office development in Leeds city centre and we look forward to working closely with our partners to deliver one of the few pre-let, Grade A, office buildings to be proposed in the city over the next few years,” added Muse Development director David Wells.
Back in October, Muse was appointed as the official development partner on a phased regeneration project in Stockport that will add thousands of square feet of new office space to Greater Manchester’s stock. Meanwhile, KPMG has agreed to let offices at an under-construction building in the heart of central Manchester as it aims to significantly bolster its presence in the north of England.
Editor’s notes: KPMG took occupation of its new offices on Sovereign Street in 2015.
In August 2024, KPG listed 1 Sovereign Steet as its Leeds office on its website.
