[Published November 2012 and updated August 2024] A new business centre has been officially opened in the heart of Dubai Maritime City, with thousands of square feet of quality offices available for rent.

The Maritime City project has been several years in the making and has seen a large area of land effectively reclaimed from the nearby sea to be used as the basis for a massive mixed-use property development effort. Now closing in on completion, the scheme is being promoted to potential inhabitants and users of the resulting offices and harbour facilities.

The Maritime Business Centre is one of the standout developments within the broader project. It was recently officially opened by General Saif Adbullah Al Shafar, undersecretary to the Ministry of the Interior in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Developers’ statements on the subject explain that the Maritime Business Centre will “form the nucleus of the City” and be the centre for all sales and promotional work related to the overarching endeavour. Around 80,000 sq ft of office space has been created at the 10-storey business tower in what is already becoming a hub of maritime commerce for Dubai and the UAE.

“The opening of the Maritime Business Centre will greatly facilitate the growth of the City,” commented Khamis Juma Buamim, chairman of Drydocks World and Maritime World, the two state-backed companies ultimately responsible for the project.

Offices at the newly launched business centre have expansive views over the surrounding sea and of the city of Dubai itself. Considerable but unspecified efforts are said to have been made to ensure that the building was constructed in a relatively environmentally friendly way.

Editors notes: The 2.27 million square metre Dubai Maritime City lies near the creek area business district, between Port Rashid and Dubai Dry Docks.

In 2022, over 280 businesses were registered at the scheme.
