The company originated in London but operates worldwide. It has been looking for an ideal office base in the heart of New York City. Bloomingdale Properties Inc. owns the building, located at 1385 Broadway, one of the most famous streets in America.
Cushman & Wakefield has been acting on behalf of Bloomingdale to negotiate tenancy deals for the nearly half million square feet of offices at the site. It said Bloomsbury’s commitment to 23,500 square feet had taken the building to 90 per cent occupancy.
At 1385 Broadway, the publisher will join the internet retailer Ideeli, the internet telecoms company ShoreTel, and the civic architecture firm Dattner Architects. According to Cushman & Wakefield, the building’s recent capital improvements and renovations cost roughly $55 million.
“1385 Broadway is a superior asset and is being pursued by a diverse, multi-discipline tenancy with a common objective,” said Jonathan Serko, Cushman & Wakefield’s vice chairman. “These tenants are seeking premier office space in a building with a strong and reputable ownership in an ever-tightening market, and they have found it here, at 1385 Broadway. We are so pleased to have Bloomsbury join our prestigious tenant roster.”
Bloomsbury US will move from the Flatiron Building on 175th Avenue to its new Broadway offices. Bloomsbury also has subsidiary businesses in Sydney, Australia, and New Delhi, India.

As of October 2026, Bloomsbury listed 1359 Broadway as its Manhattan offices, having signed a 24,209-square-foot lease with landlord Empire State Realty Trust, Inc. (ESRT) in October 2024.
The publishing giant also maintained its global headquarters at 50 Bedford Square in Bloomsbury, London.
