The move’s motivation was a desire to house its workforce in more comfortable and modern offices. GVA will switch from its current Manchester location at 81 Fountain Street, where it has had offices across four floors for the past 15 years.
“There were a number of options available to us within the city, and after careful consideration, we decided that Norfolk House met both our specific occupational requirements and our desire to remain within the city’s prime commercial core,” explained Mark Ralston, regional senior director at GVA.
“Having all staff on the same floor will allow us to be more flexible and creative in the way we use the space, and we have some exciting plans to create a separate reception and meeting room suite of the highest quality and design for our new Manchester home.”
Mr Rawston went on to commend the quality of refurbishment efforts recently carried out at Norfolk House and noted that the relocation deal would not increase GVA in Manchester’s operating costs, which he described as a “first-rate achievement in the current climate.”
GVA recently released a research report on prospects for the Manchester office space market, suggesting that there could soon be an undersupply of Grade A-quality business accommodation in the city.
Editor’s notes: In February 2019, GVA was acquired by Canadian global commercial real estate advisory firm Avison Young.
As of August 2024, Avison Young’s Manchester office was 11 York Street.
In September 2024, Avison Young announced that it had consolidated its London office and UK headquarters to The Met Building in Fitzrovia.
