PwC lines up ‘ultra modern’ office space in LA

[Published October 2012 and updated August 2024] The American arm of the global professional services business PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) has signed a long-term lease on what it describes as ‘ultra-modern’ office space in downtown Los Angeles.

As many as 1,450 PwC employees and partners currently based at 350 Grand Avenue in LA will soon move to the firm’s newly rented space at 601 Figueroa Street. The relocation is planned to be completed by May 2013, with PwC having signed a 15-year lease on 135,000 sq ft of offices at the new site.

“We see a bright future in Los Angeles and intend to continue our growth in our new space,” explained Brian Cullinan, PwC’s managing partner for Southern California. “We’re building the workplace of the future with a focus on efficiency, personal flexibility and a concern for the environment.”

“We’re building our space based on feedback from our people, which will include the traditional enclosed offices and a more modern and progressive open floor plan to enhance team collaboration and client service delivery,” he added.

Other features of the company’s new offices will be so-called “touch down desks” on each floor to enable PwC’s more mobile workers to ‘plugin’ and get on with their work more easily and effectively. In fact, the entire office space is set to become a “wireless network environment” that should, in theory, allow employees and partners to “work anywhere” within the building.

When announcing its expansive office relocation plans, PwC stressed that it has paid close attention to the prospective environmental impact of its new offices. The Figueroa Street building has been given a Gold certification under the US Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) rating system.

“Having PwC’s logo atop its new building will make a great addition to the Los Angeles skyline, and we’re looking forward to their presence Downtown for years to come,” said the city’s mayor, Antonio Villaraigosa, in a statement.

Editor’s notes: As of August 2024, PwC listed 601 South Figueroa Street as its Los Angeles office address on its website.
