Explore Flexible Office Space Solutions in Manchester
WorldPay, which provides payment processing services to companies of all sizes worldwide, has become the latest big-name business to open an office in the Spinningfields area of the largest city in the north of England.
The announcement that the firm plans to take on 200 new staff is good news for the local economy and builds on the success of redevelopment initiatives like MediaCityUK, which is progressing toward establishing Greater Manchester as an international hub of media enterprise.
WorldPay has taken offices at Hardman Square in the heart of Spinningfields, joining HSBC and the accountancy firm Grant Thornton. Two of the company’s main back office functions, involving business services and risk, are now based in Manchester.
“We have made significant progress in evolving our business since we became an independent company. We are investing heavily in growing and maintaining our market-leading positions,” said Aidan Connolly, WorldPay’s chief financial officer, in a statement.
“Investment in people is vital to our strategy going forward as we continue our journey to become the world’s leading independent payment processing company,” he said.
WorldPay was divested from the Royal Bank of Scotland Group in 2010. It specialises in payment processing and currently has a workforce of roughly 3,000, with employees based in offices in the UK, the US, Europe, and Asia.
Editor’s notes: In February 2024, FIS, which owned Worldpay at the time, sold its majority stake to GTCR.
In August 2024, the company trading as Worldpay listed 3 Hardman Square as its address on Google Maps.
