The Fallon Company, which is behind the regeneration of Fan Pier, welcomed the commitment as another positive step forward for one of the largest ongoing mixed-use development efforts in the United States.
As many as 860 Boston-based Goodwin Proctor attorneys and professional staff will move to Fan Pier and the firm’s new 360,000 sq ft Boston office space. The business was founded in Boston almost exactly a century ago.
“As Goodwin Procter’s 100th year draws to a close, it is only fitting that we begin our next century working in ‘a home to call our own’ in the firm’s founding city,” said Goodwin Proctor chairman Regina M Pisa. “Our talented and dedicated staff looks forward to joining current and prospective clients in the city’s premier waterfront location.”
The building into which Goodwin Proctor will move is a 17-storey office tower that forms a crucial part of the broader 21-acre and nine-block development along the Boston Waterfront. In addition to its office in Boston, the law firm has offices in Hong Kong, London, Los Angeles, New York, and San Diego.
Boston Mayor Thomas M. Menino said, “The Fallon Company has done a tremendous job of attracting premier companies to this emerging neighbourhood. Goodwin Procter, with its prestigious global reputation, forward-thinking business approach, and expertise across all sectors of the law, including technology and intellectual property, is a welcome and fitting addition.”
Editor’s notes: Goodwin Procter rebranded as Goodwin and relocated to 100 Northern Avenue in the city’s Seaport District in 2016, becoming the property’s anchor tenant.
The 21-acre Fan Pier scheme offers world-class office space, retail, restaurant and residential opportunities and, as of August 2024, was home to office tenants Mass Mutual, Vertex, Fish and Richardson, and Mass Challenge.
