Having been established in 2006, Futureworks is now among the largest and most highly regarded operations in the UK. The organisation has been run from office space on Mosley Street close to the Manchester Central Library but will now switch to offices on New Bailey Street opposite Salford Central train station.
A total of 24,000 square feet have been earmarked for Futureworks at the Riverside development, which comprises five separate buildings and was recently the focus of a £5 million refurbishment effort. Bruntwood owns the buildings and has claimed the college’s commitment as one of the largest office space lettings in Manchester city centre so far this year.
“The accommodation at Riverside provides Futureworks with the ideal platform to take the business to the next level and marks a significant step in our growth,” said the organisation’s managing director, Chris Mayo.
Rob Yates from property firm DTZ advised Futureworks on its relocation plans and said: “We’ve been searching for a suitable building for Futureworks for some time. This is a major relocation and is testament to the quality of accommodation at Riverside that our clients choose this development as their long-term Manchester base.”
Manchester has a growing pedigree in the media and technology industries, and a massive redevelopment effort in recent years has established MediaCityUK, one of the largest purpose-built new industry hubs in Europe. Elsewhere in Manchester, a Co-Operative Group developed a scheme called NOMA, which will see around £800 million invested in regenerating another central area of the city centre over the next few years, with the Co-Operative Group’s new headquarters building opening there shortly.
Editor’s notes: As of August 2024, Futureworks listed Riverside as its address on its website.
