‘High demand’ for Liverpool office space

[Published April 2011 and last updated July 2026] A major office space provider based in the North West has reported that inquiries for office space in Liverpool are at their highest in 15 years.

Bruntwood, which provides serviced office space across the North West and the Midlands, has said that interest from SMEs lately has been overwhelming.

In particular, enquiries about Bruntwood’s Plaza in Liverpool have been extremely numerous. The new business has enabled Bruntwood to increase the number of workstations in the building by a full 25 per cent.

Enfinity, a designer of sustainable energy platforms, has recently significantly increased its office space in The Plaza.

Colin Forshaw, Head of Liverpool sales at Bruntwood said: “It’s great news that Enfinity has taken the option to expand with us.

“We have adapted the service space to meet the needs of the company to take additional workstations at very short notice. The company can continue to expand with us as and when they require.”

Additionally, many of Bruntwood’s office spaces in Manchester have seen higher demand of late. The Deansgate business centre run by Bruntwood in Manchester has been operating at almost full occupancy for the last six months.

Bruntwood is reportedly planning to increase the office space in the business centre by close to 50 per cent, which could accommodate another 70 workstations.

Currently, Bruntwood operates 101 buildings in four cities throughout the North West. In total, these buildings house over 1,000 different companies.

Recently, Liverpool was named the host city of the 2012 Global Entrepreneurship Congress. The Congress attracts the most well-known and prestigious entrepreneurs, economists and thinkers from over 100 countries.

Liverpool will be the first city in the UK to hold the event. This year, Shanghai is the host city.

Editor’s notes: As of June 2023, Bruntwood had over 40 years of experience in the commercial property sector.

It managed a portfolio of 90 properties in Manchester, Greater Manchester, Cheshire, Liverpool, Leeds and Birmingham.

In February 2026, Bruntwood Group reported a pre-tax loss of £13 million for the year ending 30 September 2025. However, it represented an 82 per cent improvement on the previous year.

The group reported that losses were due to development write-downs, higher build costs, and market volatility.

It also reported that its portfolio (including wholly owned properties and those in joint ventures) was now worth £1.9bn – an increase of £1m from the year ending September 2024.
